Discord is a necessary tool for all streamers to utilize, and in this article you will learn some tips on how to actually grow your stream through Discord.

Discord is the easiest way to talk over voice, video, and text. Talk, chat, hang out, and stay close with your friends and communities.

Tip #1 Great place to network

One of the biggest things smaller streamers tend to ignore is networking. Networking with other streamers is one of the most effective ways for natural growth within your own stream. One of the best ways to do this is to interact with other streamers communities, and Discord is the most effective place to do this. Joining other streamers Discords and interact with them and their community can often bring those people over to your own stream over time. This can allow both of you to grow along with one another and bring both communities together.

Smaller streamers are often willing to help each other so don’t be afraid to ask one you know for tips on how they are growing and to feed ideas off to each other.  This is difficult to do in Twitch chat, however in Discord it is the perfect location for it.

Tip #2: Advertise your Discord on socials

This one should be obvious, however a lot of streamers don’t have their Discord on Twitter, YouTube, Twitch, etc. Discord is one of the best outlets to grow a genuine community because it’s a place where conversations outside of the stream and game being played can occur.

On Twitch for example you should always have a link to your server on your main page, as well as a command in chat !discord with a direct link to your server.  People who are watching you may want to find another outlet to talk to you on a more personal level, or find that your Twitch chat has been really enjoyable and want to become a part of your community.

Tip #3: Be a part of your own community

There are a lot of streamers big and small, who barely even pay attention to their Twitch chat, and for some that does work for them. As a whole however it is better to actually engage with your chat no matter the size of it.  Discord is no different from this, if you join a smaller streamers Discord and you never see them talk within their community, it feels less genuine.

If you as the streamer and owner of the server make a genuine effort to grow your community and be active within it on Discord, then those connections are more likely to come in and watch, subscribe, donate, and be all around the type of people you want in your community.

Tip #4: Community nights

Community nights is such a great way to bring a community closer together by actually playing games together.  You do not even need to stream these; you can just sit in a call and play some fun games with people within your community and grow closer to them.

Having these scheduled nights weekly, monthly or whatever works best for you and your community can really help bring people together.

Tip #5 Join other communities to help grow your own

Disclaimer: This means do not and I mean DO NOT just join servers just to spam your Twitch links. This is an immediate giveaway that they only care for themselves and getting viewers, and not trying to grow organically.  This spam will often get you banned from that server.

However, by joining other communities that you enjoy, you can get a lot of great conversations in them and in turn those people are more willing to click on your twitch link, watch you, and drop a follow.  Once again DO NOT just join servers to spam your Twitch link it’s annoying.

Summing it up

These are just 5 tips where Discord can help you grow your own stream, and most of them have an overall theme:  be genuine and organic when it comes to having conversations on Discord and people in turn will be more willing to help you grow your stream.
